Family Support, Engagement, and Advocacy Manager

Tracy Steffek serves as the Family Support, Engagement, and Advocacy Manager at Kids and Car Safety where she supports efforts to elevate family voices, create and scale programs, and drive meaningful policy change. A nationally recognized leader in systems transformation, Tracy brings nearly two decades of experience advancing cross-sector solutions across the health and human services landscape.

She is also the founder and principal of Remedy & Root, a consulting firm that partners with mission-driven organizations to co-create community-rooted strategies in whole-person care.

Throughout her career, Tracy has held senior leadership roles at national organizations leading initiatives focused on family and community well-being. At SAFE Project, she oversaw the organization’s largest portfolio developing tools and models used by state and local governments nationwide to address substance use and mental health. At the National Association of Counties (NACo), she advised county elected officials on policy to strengthen early childhood investments.

Tracy is known for bridging strategy with execution - building scalable programs, launching national campaigns, shaping public policy, and strengthening place-based partnerships. Influenced by her own early career direct service experiences, she is deeply committed to amplifying community voices and ensuring that systems change efforts are sustainable, collaborative, and grounded in the realities of the people they aim to serve.

She holds a Master of Public Administration from Virginia Tech, including a certificate in local government management, and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State University. A double cancer survivor and passionate advocate for patient-centered care, Tracy serves on multiple boards and advisory groups advancing health equity. Originally from New Jersey, she now lives in Northern Virginia with her husband, two daughters, and her grandmother.
