Federal regulators said Monday that while fatal accidents involving power windows are uncommon, basic design changes would prevent even more. NPR's Kathleen Schalch reports.

Children are killed and injured every year by power windows in American cars.
Detroit-based automakers can protect children from death and injury by installing safer power windows and power window switches. But they choose not to.
Safer power windows are standard in foreign automobiles, and Detroit-based automakers actually install these safer features in American cars sold overseas.
Does Detroit consider European children more precious than American children?
Automakers can easily eliminate the risk of death or injury from power windows, but they won't do it on their own. They need YOU to make them do it.
