At least once a week a child in America is run over, typically in driveways or parking lots.

    • Children being backed over by vehicles is truly an epidemic.
In 2002, at least 58 children died as a result of being backed over by a motor vehicle. (more than one per week)  Sadly, in over 60% of these incidents, there was a parent or close relative behind the wheel.

As of November 2003 KIDS AND CARS has documented at least 57 fatalities that involve a child being backed over.
